After the immense success of games like Argo.io, Slither.io and Paper.io, I wanted to adapt the Bomber Man mechanics to the smartphone. The main concept behind those games is to let the player spawn in a room where he can play against other players to beat his personal highscore. The thrill is to play against other humans without AI interference.
The game uses an 8bit graphic style with a modern color palette, while flat design is used for the UI elements. The players have bright colours to stand out of the background. The game is addressed to a wide audience as well as the other .io games.
The games is my first one developed in Unity in Combination with the Photon PUN framework. After I figured out that Photon PUN didn't work for the goal of a massive multiplayer title I switched to building my own Server. The server is written in Node.js using Websocket messages to communicate with the mobil devices. It's hosted on AWS in multible areas all over the world.
